| Green Initiative |
| |
Peaks Real Estate Sotheby's International Realty has unveiled their new "Green Initiative" plan.
Imagine saving 7,000 gallons of water; 380 gallons of oil; and enough electricity to power an average house for six months. Actually, this can be easily achieved by recycling one ton of paper. With this knowledge Peaks Real Estate Sotheby's International Realty has taken initiative and purchased recycle bins for each of their offices as well as paper recycling receptacles in the gondola terminals and for the Mountain Village Market. We understand that we are a business that produces a great deal of print material, and we are striving to provide recycling for the community.
According to the Department of Energy, the average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. In attempt to curb consumption in their offices, Peaks Real Estate Sotheby's International Realty has pledged to use energy efficient lighting where possible, and have set all office machines including computers, laptops, copiers and printers for sleep mode when not in use. Additionally, each office location will be contributing to the Green Cents program, part of San Miguel Power Association's initiative to support local energy efficient projects.
Other key parts of the "Green Initiative" include using environmentally safe cleaning products at all seven office locations. Additionally, the company will provide biodegradable paper products and cutlery for weekly company meetings. The company hopes to communicate and encourage these types of green practices to agents, clients, and to the general public.
In addition to a sustainable environment, a sustainable community is also very important to Peaks Real Estate Sotheby's International Realty. For each closing by the company, a $25 contribution will be made to the Telluride Foundation's escrow. The funds will be distributed at the end of each year to a local, environmentally focused organization. |
